*National Direct Dial: 3-4-5- toll for calls to different areas within the Philippines. There is a domestic long distance per minute surcharge.

Incoming text messages are free. Outgoing messages are 1 Php ($0.02 USD) each.

International calls

All incoming calls, regardless of where they originate, are free with your Philippines SIM card.
There is a flat rate of $0.40 USD per minute for all outgoing international calls.
International SMS messages are at a flat rate of $0.20 USD each.

Activating your service

Your Philippines mobile phone number is printed on the back side of your Philippines SIM card. It may also be found at the top of your welcome letter affixed to the SIM card.

To activate your service:

  1. Travel to Philippines.
  2. Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
  3. Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
  4. Turn your phone on.
  5. Enter PIN1 code (if required 1234 is the default)^
  6. Start calling.

* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.

^Your Philippines SIM card requires a 4 digit PIN code which can be found under the black tab located under the Philippines SIM card. The PUK is only required to unblock your phone if you enter a PIN code incorrectly. Follow your mobile phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone.

Making and receiving calls

How to make a call

To make an international call from your Philippines mobile phone dial 00 (or +), followed by the country code (1 for the US), area code and phone number.

How family and friends call you

Family and friends need to dial the international prefix, the country code 63 and your mobile phone number.
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 63 and then your mobile phone number.

Recharging your account

Your Philippines SIM card includes an initial airtime credit of 616 Php ($11 USD), which you may load once you arrive in the Philippines.

To add credit to your Philippines SIM card, you will need to purchase recharge vouchers, also called Top up cards. You will find recharge vouchers at local tabac shops, convenience stores, Smart Buddy or Gold retailers, and at newsagents displaying the Buddy logo in the Philippines. They are available in 3 denominations: 300 Php ($5.60 USD), 500 Php ($9.35 USD) and 1000 Php ($18.70 USD).

To recharge your account:

  1. Purchase a recharge voucher.
  2. Scratch off the grey protective layer to reveal your 14 digit voucher code.
  3. Dial 1510 + 14 digit PIN and [SEND]
    * A voice prompt will confirm your recharge.
  4. Start calling.

To check your current balance:

  1. Dial 1515 [SEND]
    * A voice recording will state your remaining balance on your Philippines SIM card.

Do not purchase another Philippines SIM card when your credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher!

Customer service for your Philippines SIM card is available 24/7 by dialing 161 at any time from your Philippines mobile phone.

Service life

Your Philippines SIM card must be used before the stated expiration date printed on the back of the card. If you do not arrive in the Philippines with your SIM card before the expiration date, your Philippines SIM card will be invalidated. You have 60 days to use the credit of your Buddy prepaid card (recharge voucher) from the date it is loaded into your Philippines SIM card account. Any remaining value will be forfeit after the 60 day period.

When your account balance reaches $0 (zero) you have 120 days to recharge it to keep your account active. During this time period you can continue to receive incoming calls for free.
